This policy explains, in plain language, what Building Better Software collects on this site, why, and what you can do about it. No legal jargon where I can help it.

What we collect

We collect very little. When you visit the site, our hosting server logs your IP address briefly. This is standard for any website and it helps us spot bad actors and keep things running.

When you use the contact form, we store the name, email address, and message you submit. We keep it so I can reply to you. We do not collect data from people who just browse the site.

How we use it

Your contact form data is used only to respond to your message. Your IP address is used for security and basic site operations. We do not sell personal data. We do not run third-party ad trackers. We do not build profiles about you.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses a small amount of privacy-respecting analytics to understand how people find and move through the site. It does not track you across other websites. A consent banner asks before we turn it on, and it honors Global Privacy Control signals from your browser — meaning if your browser asks to not be tracked, we respect that.

Cookies on this site are limited to the consent banner itself and analytics. We do not use advertising or social media tracking cookies.

Who we share with

We share data only with service providers who need it to do their job:

• Our hosting provider stores the site and server logs.
• Our email delivery service sends messages from the contact form.
• A payment processor handles charges if you buy something from us.

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.

How long we keep it

Contact form submissions are kept until you ask us to delete them or until they are no longer relevant. Server logs are kept briefly for security and then discarded. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you individually.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. Email blake@blakehowe.com and I will respond. You can also adjust your cookie preferences using the banner on the site.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the bottom and note what changed. We will not retroactively apply new uses to data we already have without your consent.
